Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, c. 425-415 BC. Obv. Phalantos riding dolphin left, dragging octopus; below, shell. Rev. Oecist seated left, holding distaff and kantharos. Cf. HN Italy 844; Vlasto 254-257; SNG Cop. -; Fischer-Bossert 278 (same dies). AR. 8.12 g. 22 mm. RR. Very rare and choice example of this fascinating issue. Enchanting tone. About EF/Good VF.
