M. Cato. AR Denarius, 89 BC. Obv. Female draped bust right; behind, ROMA (MA ligate); below, M·CATO (AT ligate). Rev. Victory seated right, holding patera and palm branch; in exergue, VICTRIX (TR ligate). Cr. 343/1b; B. (Porcia) 6; RRSC D139b. AR. 3.9 g. 20 mm. Superb example. Well centred, sound metal, with light tone and iridescent hues. Hidden banker's mark on obverse. Areas of weak strike. Good EF/EF.
