First heavy L series. AE Semuncia, c. 215 BC. Obv. Bust of Mercury right, wearing winged petasus. Rev. Prow right; above, ROMA; below, L. Cr. 43/6; RBW 158. AE. 4.44 g. 17.5 mm. Scarce. Well centred and struck on broad flan. Solid green patina. About EF. The dating of this coin has been suggested by Roberto Lippi, based on a new soon to be published study.
