We are pleased to present the first volume of the Roman Republican Silver Coins series.
Written by Pierluigi Debernardi, Volume 1 covers the earliest silver issues of the Roman Republic, from the beginnings of Republican coinage to the end of the Second Punic War, around 200 BC. Debernardi offers a new classification of anonymous denarii, based on the die study of all Roman silver issues from a repertoire of 26,000 coins and their contextualization within hoards, many of which he has published, re-edited, or reviewed. New series are identified, and all are quantified, leading to a scientific and objective criterion for rarity. The issues are also uniquely connected to historical sources.
The work provides an in-depth analysis and an innovative framework for situating these issues within their chronological and geographical context, enriching the field of numismatic studies with a rigorous and thought-provoking approach.
This catalog represents an important reference for both collectors and scholars, combining scientific precision with a passion for history. The text, abbreviated as RRSC, is used for the classification of coins offered by Artemide Aste.
320 pages, in color, with each coin type illustrated with high-quality photos and accompanied by a detailed descriptive sheet. Hardcover binding, 17 x 21 cm.
The book is available for purchase on the Dea Moneta Book Store for €90 + shipping costs.
