Isaac II, Angelus (1185-1195). AV Hyperpyron Nomisma, Constantinople mint. Obv. MHP (ligate) - ΘV across field. The Virgin enthroned facing, nimbate and wearing pallium and maphorium; she holds before her nimbate head of the infant Christ facing. Rev. ICAAKIOC ΔЄC X/MI in right field. Isaac and the Archangel Michael standing facing, holding between them sword in sheath; the emperor holds cruciform sceptre and he is crowned by manus Dei in centre field above. D.O. 1c; Sear 2001.
