Augustus (27 BC - 14 AD). AR Denarius, L. Aquillius Florus moneyer, 18 BC. Obv. L. AQVILLIVS FLORVS III VIR. Draped bust of Virtus right, wearing feathered helmet. Rev. Augustus in elephant-biga left, holding laurel and sceptre; above, AVGVSTVS; in exergue, CAESAR. RIC I (2nd ed.) 301. AR. 3.96 g. 20 mm. RR. Very rare. Good metal, full weight and broad flan. Banker's marks on obverse. An outstanding example, superb light iridescent tone. EF.
