Time of Tiberius. AE Spintria, c. 22-37 AD. Obv. Jugate busts right of Augustus, laureate, and Livia, diademed and draped. Rev. XIIII within dotted border, all within wreath. Cf. Buttrey ('The Sprintiae as a Historical Source' Numismatic Chronicle, 1973, pp.52-63) Type 11 and pl.4 (same obverse die). Cf. NAC 54, 2010, 319; NAC 40, 2007, 651. AE. 5.27 g. 25 mm. RRR. Smoothed and tooled. Extremely rare, few specimens known. Dark patina. Good VF/About EF. Sold as is, no return.
