Philip II as Caesar (244-246). AE Sestertius. Obv. M IVL PHILIPPVS CAES. Draped bust right, head bare. Rev. PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS SC. Philip standing right, holding globe and transverse spear. RIC IV 257. AE. 22.41 g. 31.50 mm. Superb example, virtually as struck, on a broad flan. Enchanting light orichalcum surfaces. Minor metal flaws on obverse. EF.
