Julia Mamaea, mother of Severus Alexander (died 235 AD). AE Dupondius (?). Rome mint, struck under Severus Alexander, c. 228 AD. Obv. IVLIA MAMAEA AVGVSTA. Diademed and draped bust right. Rev. FELICITAS PVBLICA. Felicitas standing facing, head to left and leg crossed, holding caducaeus and leaning on column; S-C across fields. RIC IV (Sev. Alex.) 677; C. 22. 14.31 g. 27.00 mm. Leather patina. Good VF/VF. The light weight suggest this specimen as a dupondius despite the standard references do not list the issue and classify them as sestertii.
