Antoninus Pius (138-161). AE Sestertius, Rome mint, c.145-160. Obv. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P. Laureate head right. Rev. COS II[I]I SC. Antoninus Pius standing left, wearing military dress, paludamentum and a radiate nimbus, holding laurel branch and spear. RIC III 765; C. 318 (Fr. 6). AE. 28.13 g. 31.00 mm. R. Rare. A very attractive example, with a superb unusual portrait.
Lovely bright deep brown patina. Very gently smoothed, otherwise. about EF.
