AE Eight nomismata cilindric weight. Engraving on top. AE. 31.63 g. 20.00 mm. Lovely dark patina. Interesting commercial weight of eight nomismata. Curious engraving on the top, where theoretically the engraving NH, indicating the weight according to the Byzantine alphabet, should have been inscribed. This difference could make it attributable to another sphere of influence, perhaps of merchants who had to relate to the Byzantine world but of which they were not part.
