The Bellum Sociale, 90-88 BC. Denarius, Bovianum(?) mint, struck 89 BC. Obv. VITELIV (in Oscan, retrograde). Laureate head of Italia left, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. Helmeted soldier standing front, head right, holding spear, left foot on standard (?) recumbent bull to right, Oscan 'A' (I) in exergue. Campana 138; HN Italy 407; Campana 138. AR. 3.68 g. 19.00 mm. RR. Very rare and choice. Sound metal, brilliant and prettily toned. Good VF.
