IMP-X to left and right of Apollo Citharoedus, in long drapery, standing left, holding plectrum and lyre; in exergue, ACT. RIC I (2nd ed.) 171a. AR. 3.72 g. 18.00 mm. Sound metal. Nice, brilliant and lightly toned, with a hint of iridescence. VF. This reverse type refers to the battle of Actium, off the western coast of Greece, the greatest and decisive of all the victories of Augustus, against the forces of Mark Antony and Cleopatra.
