Agrippina Senior, wife of Germanicus and mother of Caligula (died 33 AD). AE Sestertius, Rome mint. Struck under Caligula, 37-41. Obv. AGRIPPINA M F MAT C CAESARIS AVGVSTI. Draped bust right, hair falling in long plait behind. Rev. Two mules drawing ornamented carpentum left; above, SPQR; in left field, MEMORIAE/AGRIPPINAE in two lines. RIC I (2nd ed.) (Gaius) 55. AE. 24.96 g. 35.50 mm. Delicate patina with verdigris hues over brass surfaces. Gently smoothed at reverse. Good VF/VF.
