Julia Maesa, grandmother of Elagabalus (died 225 AD). AR Denarius, Rome mint, 218-220 AD. Obv. IVLIA MAESA AVG. Draped bust right. Rev. PIETAS AVG. Pietas standing facing, head left, sacrificing over lighted and garlanded altar and holding incense box. RIC IV (Elagab.) 263; C. 29. AR. 2.98 g. 19.00 mm. An outstanding example, sharply struck, from masterfully engraved and detailed dies. Brilliant, superb and lightly toned. Insignificant uncleaned green deposit on reverse, otherwise. EF.
