Augustus (27 B.C - 14 A.D.). AR Denarius, uncertain Italian mint, possibly Rome. Obv. Laureate head of Apollo of Actium right, with features resembling Octavian. Rev. IMP CAESAR. Octavian, as city founder, plowing right with yoke of oxen, holding whip and plow handle. RIC I (2nd ed.) 272. AR. 3.75 g. 20.00 mm. Superb example struck on a broad flan. Enchanting old cabinet tone with iridescent hues. Banker's mark on cheek and minor test cut(?) at the base of neck. About EF.
