Julius Caesar. AR Denarius, 47-46 BC. Obv. Diademed head of Venus right. Rev. CAESAR. Aeneas advancing left, carrying palladium in right hand and Anchises on left shoulder. Cr. 458/1. AR. 3.93 g. 17.00 mm. A magnificent example, brilliant and superb, with underlying luster. Enchanting iridescent tone, with golden hues. From a masterly engraved but slightly worn dies, otherwise. good EF.
