Continental Greece. Boeotia, Thebes. AR Stater, 425-400 BC. Obv. Boeotian shield; club across top half. Rev. Wreathed head of Dionysos right in incuse square; [Θ] - E across lower field. SNG Cop. 282-284 var. (no club); BMC Central Greece 55; Dewing 1503; BCD Boiotia 444 ( same dies ). AR. 12.04 g. 24.00 mm. RR. Very rare. Great metal, irregular flan. Some roughness on reverse, brilliant and lightly toned. Good VF.
