Wheel series. AR Denarius serratus, uncertain Apulian mint (Tarentum?), 208 BC. Obv. Helmeted head of Roma right; behind, X. Rev. The Dioscuri galloping right; below, wheel; in exergue, ROMA. Cr. 79/1; RRSC B81. AR. 4.62 g. 20 mm. Superb and exceedingly heavy, surely one of the finest specimens known. Lightly toned, with golden hues and virtually as struck. Hairline flan crack and metal flaw on reverse. FDC.
