Greek Italy. Southern Lucania, Metapontum. AR Nomos, c. 290-280 BC. Obv. Wreathed head of Demeter right, wearing triple-pendant earring and necklace; to left, Δ. Rev. META. Ear of barley with leaf to right; above leaf, star above two amphoras; ΦI below leaf. HN Italy 1625; SNG ANS 517 (same dies); HGC 1 1066; SNG Ashmolean 790-2 (same dies); Johnston Class D, 4.16 (same dies). AR. 7.75 g. 21.5 mm. Nice specimen. Beautifully toned and perfectly centred. Good VF.
