Greek Italy. Northern Lucania, Paestum. AE 12 mm, after 90 BC. Obv. Oil-flask (Aryballos). Rev. Strigil. HN Italy -; HGC 1 -; SNG ANS -; SNG München 1149; Garrucci pl. CXXIII, 11; Virzi 89. AE. 2.16 g. 12 mm. RR. Very rare issue, not published in the major references, depicting a pair of instruments used primarily by male athletes in ancient times. The oil from the flask was applied on the body before the exercise, then scraped off using the strigil. Good VF.
