The Villa Publica depicted on the reverse of this denarius was the place where the victorious commanders were stationed awaiting the triumph, given that access to the city pomerium was forbidden to them as they were at the head of an armed army. After the fire of 80 AD, Domitian had the Porticus Divorum built there.
