RIC V 169-170 (Antoninianus; different obv. legend). AR. 2.37 g. 20.50 mm. RR. Rough surfaces. This intriguing Denarius (?) of Probus presents a fascinating numismatic anomaly. While the radiate depiction of the emperor suggests that it should be classified as an Antoninianus, its weight of 2.37 grams aligns more closely with that of a Denarius. This discrepancy in weight and denomination adds a layer of complexity to the coin's classification and raises questions about its minting process and intended use. About VF.
