Greek Asia. Kings of Lydia. AV Trite – 1/3 Stater, time from Alyattes to Kroisos, c. 620-610 to 550-539 BC. Obv. Head of a roaring lion right; 'sun' with five rays on forehead. Rev. Two incuse squares. Cf. SNG von Aulock 2868; Cfr. GRPC G25; Cfr. Weidauer 88-89. AV. 2.35 g. 10.00 mm. RR. Choice example in a very peculiar style. Good VF. Interesting example with a coarse style, probably a ionian contemporary imitation.
