Greek Italy. Northern Apulia, Arpi. AR Diobol, c. 325-275 BC. Obv. APΠ CEΠTI. Head of Athena right, wearing Attic helmet decorated with hippocamp; Δ on neck guard. Rev. Herakles right, fighting lion; above, ethnic; between, Δ. HN Italy 637; SNG ANS 632. AR. 0.93 g. 12.50 mm. R. Rare and nice. Lightly toned, with dark spots of oxidation. Good VF/VF. 'The name on the obverse seems to be related to the Roman name Septimius.' (HN Italy, p. 76, 637 note).
