Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, c. 280-272 BC. Obv. Youth on horseback right, crowning himself; ΣΩ to left; IAΛO and Ionic capital below. Rev. Phalantos riding dolphin left, holding aphlaston and distaff; to right, AN; below, TAPAΣ. HN Italy 1014; Vlasto 805. AR. 6.47 g. 20.00 mm. Superb coin, in high state of preservation; perfectly struck. Enchanting glossy even dark grey patina with a hint of iridescence around devices. Good EF.
