Ostrogothic Italy, Theoderic (493-526). AV Tremissis. Pseudo-Imperial Coinage. In the name of Anastasius I. Rome mint, c. 493-518 AD. Obv. DN ANASTASIVS PF AVG. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. VICTORIA AVGVSTORVM. Victory flying left on globe, holding wreath and palm-branch; in exergue, COMOB. COI ????; MEC 1, -; BMC Vandals 72 and pl. VII, 4 (same rev. die). AV. 1.47 g. 13.50 mm. Rare reverse type, apparently never offered in public sale, listed only by Wroth. In excellent condition for issue, superb, brilliant and lightly toned. Perfectly centred, in the finest barbaric style. Minor mark on reverse, otherwise. Good EF.
