Caius and Lucius Caesars standing facing, two shields and two spears between them; above, on left, simpulum right, and on right, lituus left. RIC I (2nd ed.) 207. AR. 3.69 g. 19.00 mm. Nice example, well centred. Lovely light cabinet tone with golden hues. About EF.

Caius and Lucius, depicted on the reverse of this denarius, were adopted by Augustus as his successors. Neither survived the first emperor, dying very young, one in AD 2 and the other in AD 3. Augustus later adopted Tiberius as his successor.
