Lotto 724:
AE solid cast flan. 3rd-2nd centuries BC. AE. 53.66 g. 39 mm. Interesting item, possibly a flan not struck. Another hypothesis is that this Ae is an Aes Formatum, in fact the weight of this specimen corresponds to two Roman libral ounces, (see Haeberlin pl. 3, nn. 10-11, who cites only two similar specimens, split into two parts). The truncated cone shape of the rim suggests that this object was obtained from regular moulds, perhaps made of terracotta.
