Augustus (27 BC - 14 AD). AV Aureus. Colonia Patricia (?), c. 18-16 BC. Obv. S P Q R CAESARI AVGVSTO. Bare head right. Rev. VOT P SVSC PRO SAL ET RED I O M SAC. Mars, helmeted and cloaked, standing left, holding verical vexillum and parazonium over shoulder. RIC I (2nd ed.) 149a. AV. 7.79 g. 21.50 mm. RRR. A choice and well centered example of this interesting and very rare issue. Brilliant and lightly toned. Two banker's marks on obverse (one of them with two coiled serpents) and a few light marks. Good VF/VF.
