Hadrian (117-138). AR Denarius, 134-138 AD. Obv. HADRIANVS AVG COS III PP. Bare headed bust right, with slight drapery on far shoulder. Rev. SALVS AVG. Salus standing right, feeding snake coiled round altar. RIC II 267; C. 1334. AR. 3.22 g. 18.00 mm. A handsome example with a bold portrait, from masterly engraved and detailed dies. Lovely old cabinet tone, with iridescent and golden hues. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise. EF.
