Trajan (98-117). AR Denarius, 100 AD. Obv. Head right, laureate. Rev. Hercules standing facing on low base, holding club downwards and lion's skin over left arm. RIC II 37. AR. 2.97 g. 18.00 mm. VF. This statue has been identified as being part of the Ara Maxima Herculis Invicti, an altar dedicated to Hercules near the Forum Boarium in Rome.
