Trajan (98-117 AD). AE Sestertius, Rome mint, 116 AD. Obv. [IMP] CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER D[AC PARTHICO P M TR P CO[S V P P] Laureate and draped bust right. Rev. REX PARTHI[S D]ATVS SC. Trajan seated left in curule chair on high platform. accompanied by an officer, placing diadem on the head of king Parthamaspates who stands before him next to platform; Parthia kneeling right in supplication to left. RIC II 667; C. 328 (Fr. 20). AE. 26.84 g. 34.00 mm. R. Rare and historically important issue. Superb portrait, nice brown patina, with orichalcum highlights. VF.
