Justin II (565-578). AV Tremissis, Ravenna mint. Obv. DN IVSTINVS PP AVC. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right; heavy annular border. Rev. VICTORIA AVGVSTORVN (sic). Victory alighting facing, head left, holding wreath and globus cruciger; to right, six-pointed star; in exergue, CONOB. D.O. 212 var. (AVGVSTORVM); Ranieri 416 var. (same); Sear 410 var. (same); MIB 26 (this variety cited). AV. 1.44 g. 17.00 mm. RRR. Extremely rare variety of a very rare issue. An outstanding example, sharply struck on a huge flan and virtually uncirculated. Minor scratches. EF.
