L. Titurius L.f. Sabinus. AR Denarius, 89 BC. Obv. Bearded head of King Tatius right; behind, SABIN; before palm-branch. Rev. Tarpeia stands facing between to soldiers, who are about to kill her; in upper central field, star and crescent. In exergue, L·TITVRI. Cr. 344/2b; B. (Tituria) 4. AR. 3.80 g. 18.50 mm. A superb example, sharply struck from masterly engraved dies and perfectly centred. Enchanting light iridescent cabinet tone. Banker's mark on obverse, skillfully dissimulated, otherwise. EF.
