Nero as Caesar (50-54). AR Denarius, struck under Claudius. Rome mint, 51-54 AD. Obv. [NER]ONI CLAVDIO DRVS[O GER]M COS DESIGN. Bare-headed and draped young bust right. Rev. EQVESTER/OR-DO/PRINCIPI/IVVENT in four lines, inscribed on round shield behind which is spear. RIC I (2nd ed.) (Claud.) 79; C. 97 (Fr.20). AR. 2.77 g. 18.50 mm. RR. Very rare. Lovely bright old cabinet tone. Edge broken, minor fragment missing, otherwise. good VF.
