Severus Alexander (222-235 AD). AR Denarius. Obv. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. SALVS PVBLICA. Salus seated left, feeding snake twined round altar. RIC IV 178; C. 530. AR. 3.47 g. 20.00 mm. An outstanding example, from masterly engraved dies, well centred on a broad flan and virtually as struck. Lovely light golden toning. About FDC.
