L. Marcius Philippus. AR Denarius, 56 BC. Obv. Diademed head of Ancus Marcius right; behind, lituus; below, ANCVS. Rev. PHILIPPVS. Equestrian statue right, on arcade of five arches within which AQVA MAR, flower below horse. Cr. 425/1; B. 28. AR. 3.78 g. 20.00 mm. Great metal and full flan. An otstanding superb example, sharply struck, from a masterly engraved dies. Enchanting portrait, lovely light iridescent tone. Two insignificant almost invisible test cuts on edge, otherwise. good EF.
