Emperor standing right, in military attire, holding transverse spear and globe. in left field, S. RIC V -; C. -; Unlisted in the standard references. BI. 4.42 g. 24.50 mm. UNICUM ?. Excessively rare and apparently unpublished. From masterly engraved dies and superb. EF. Marcus Aurelius Claudius Quintillus was the younger brother of Claudius II . He succeeded his brother when his troops proclaimed him emperor on the death of Claudius II (AD 270) but the troops switched their loyalty to Aurelian. Quintillus despaired and committed suicide.
