Elagabalus (218-222). AR Denarius, 219 AD. Obv. IMP ANTONINVS AVG. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. PM TR P II COS II PP. Pax walking left, holding olive branch and sceptre. RIC IV 21. AR. 3.09 g. 20.50 mm. Lovely delicate patina with golden hues. Good EF. Elagabalus was born at Emesa in 204 AD. As a child, he was elevated as the high priest of the Syro-Phoenician sun god Elagabus or Heliogabalus, and later became known by this name.
