Anonymous. AR Denarius, 115-114 BC. Obv. Helmeted head of Roma right, wearing winged Corinthian helmet; behind, X and below, ROMA. Rev. Roma seated right on pile of shields, holding spear in left hand; at her feet, helmet; before, she-wolf suckling twins; on either side, bird flying. Cr. 287/1. AR. 3.95 g. 19.50 mm. Full weight and broad flan. A very attractive example, from masterly engraved dies, well centred and unusually complete. Lovely light iridescent cabinet tone. About EF/Good VF.
