C. Vibius Varus. AR Denarius, 42 BC. Obv. Head of Liber right, wearing ivy-wreath. Rev. VARVS. Panther left springing up toward garlanded altar on which rests mask and against which rests thyrsus; in exergue, C. VIBIVS. Cr. 494/36; B. 24. AR. 4.07 g. 18.50 mm. Scarce. Sound metal and full weight. A choice example, brilliant and nicely toned. Struck with slightly worn and rusty dies, otherwise good VF/About EF.
