Sicily. Thermai Himerenses. AE Hemilitron (?), c. 290-270 BC. Obv. Laureate head of Apollo right; below chin, lyre. Rev. Male figure bent left; wearing pileos and himation, holding kantharos near the mouth; [right foot on small sphere; in exergue, ΘΕΡΜΙΤΑΝ]. HGC 2 -; CNS I 14; Campana 13; Torremuzza tav. XC, 12 and Act. I, tav. VII, 3. AE. 7.44 g. 21.50 mm. RRRR. Of the greatest rarity. VF. This coin was known only through the specimen illustrated by Torremuzza until Campana, in the monograph dedicated to Thermai, has published for the first time the photo of the only specimen nowadays known (in private hands). This specimen is thus the third known example.
