Africa. Egypt, Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy V Epiphanes (204-180 BC) to Ptolemy VI Philometor (180-145 BC). AE 23 mm, Alexandria mint. Obv. Bearded head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin. Rev. Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, wings closed. Svoronos 1494 (Ptolemy VII). AE. 11.09 g. 23.00 mm. R. Rare type. About VF. Attribution uncertain. Svoronos classified it as a type of Ptolemy VII, but Lorber and Faucher dated this type earlier, in the time of Ptolemy V to VI (Bronze Coinage of the Ptolemaic Egypt in the Second Century BC, AJN, 2010, 35-84.).
