Theodosius II (402-450). AV Solidus, Constantinople mint, 442-443 AD. Obv. DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG. Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated with horseman motif. Rev. IMP.XXXXII. COS.XVII.P. Constantinopolis seated left, left foot on prow, holding sceptre and globus cruciger; shield at her side; star to left; in exergue, COMOB. RIC X 293. AV. 4.43 g. 21.50 mm. Scarce. A very attractive example, nearly superb. About EF.
