Octavian. AR Denarius, mint moving with Octavian, 36 BC. Obv. IMP CAESAR DIVI F III VIR ITER RPC. Bare head right. Rev. COS ITER ET TER DESIGN. Tetrastyle temple within which veiled figure (Julius Caesar) standing facing and holding lituus; on architrave, DIVO IVL; within pediment, star; altar on left. Cr. 540/2; B. 139; C. 90. AR. 3.90 g. 20.50 mm. RR. Very rare. Superb portrait in high relief and broad flan. Prettily toned, with iridescent hues. From a little tired obverse die and minor traces of double striking on reverse, otherwise good VF.
