Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Sidion. AE 15 mm. c. 300-275 BC. Obv. Laureate head of Zeus right; barley ear behind . Rev. ΣΙΔΙΝΩΝ. Herakles standing right, leaning on club set on rock. HN Italy 822 var. (no symbol on obverse); BMC 1-2 var. (same). AE. 2.51 g. 16.00 mm. RRR. Extremely rare variety, unlisted in the standard references. Of fine style and in excellent condition for issue. Lovely glossy green- brown patina. Good VF. The only coin type issued by this city.
