Continental Greece. Kings of Macedon. Alexander III ‘the Great’ (336-323 BC). AR Tetradrachm, Babylon mint, lifetime issue, c. 324-323 BC. Obv. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY. Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; below throne, monogram above strut, M below, kerykeion in exergue. Price 3639. AR. 17.17 g. 26.00 mm. A choice example, sharply struck in high relief and perfectly centred. Lovely old cabinet tone, with iridescent hues. About EF.
