Julia Domna (died 217 AD). AE 25 mm., Emesa mint. Obv. IO[YΛ]IA ΔOMNA AYΓOY. Draped bust right. Rev. ЄMICΩN KOΛΩNI. The great altar of El-Gabal at Emesa atop base placed on two steps and ornamented with cornice and two rows of niches; each niche containing statue; all placed between two pilasters; Z[KΦ] (date) in exergue. BMC 11; SNG Glasgow 3160; SNG Copenhagen -. AE. 9.43 g. 25 mm. RR. Very rare and fascinating issue. Metal flaw on obverse. Good VF.
