Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Drachm, c. 281-272 BC. Obv. Head of Athena left with hair flowing down behind, wearing crested helmet decorated with Skylla. Rev. TAPANTINON. Owl standing on thunderbolt, with open wings. HN Italy 1018; HGC 1 907; Vlasto 1075-83. AR. 3.04 g. 15 mm. Fascinating issue, with nice iridescent tone. Peripheral areas of pitted surfaces. Good VF.
